Terms of use

Effective 30 October 2026

Effective date: 30 October 2026

By downloading or using Elf O'Clock you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Your licence

When you buy Elf O'Clock you get a personal, non-transferable licence to install and use it on devices you own or control, for your own family's use, under the rules of the store you bought it from. You may not copy, sell, rent, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the app or anything in it, except where the law says you can.

2. Buying and refunds

Elf O'Clock is bought through Apple's App Store or Google Play, for this season's edition. There are no subscriptions. This edition has no in-app purchases; if a later version offers optional extras, they will be clearly priced and you won't have to buy them to keep using what you've paid for. The sale is made through Apple's App Store or Google Play, and refunds are handled by them under their own refund policies. We cannot process refunds ourselves. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

3. What this edition is

This is a seasonal edition built around December. The advent doors unlock by the date and the door time set on your device. We may release future seasons as separate editions; buying this one does not entitle you to those. We may issue updates to this edition for bug fixes, but we are not obliged to.

4. Our content

All text, jokes, riddles, games, artwork, animations, voices and designs in the app belong to Alex Lock or our licensors and are protected by copyright. You may use them within the app for your own family. You may not extract, publish or sell them. The app is an independent companion for the Christmas elf tradition and is not connected with or endorsed by any elf doll brand or its owners.

5. Your content

Anything you type into the app or create in it (names, notes, drawings, photos) stays on your device and belongs to you. We never receive it.

6. Parents and children

The app is designed for an adult to buy and set up and for children to use under that adult's supervision. The parent area sits behind a parent gate. The gate is a simple barrier, not a lock; please do not treat it as a security feature. You are responsible for what your children do on your device and for any physical elf setups you choose to carry out at home.

7. No guarantees the elves behave

The app is a source of ideas, jokes and games. We do not promise that any setup is suitable for your home, that your children will find a particular joke funny, or that the elves will be well behaved. Use your own judgement on anything involving food, small parts, heat, mess or climbing. The app is provided "as is" and, to the extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties. We do not exclude liability for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded, including death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for anything arising from the app is limited to the amount you paid for it.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. The current version is always at https://elfoclock.com/terms. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without affecting any rights you have as a consumer where you live.
